We are a group offering support and information for partners of people who are in a relationship with someone who has High Functioning Autism, Aspergers Syndrome or who identifies as Neurodiverse.
A diagnosis is not essential for you to attend. You are most welcome to come along if you think your partner might be on the spectrum and need more information. The sharing and information at a group meeting will help you determine whether you are on the right track.
We do not charge a membership fee.
We keep informed of current information and include educational updates at many of our meetings.
People on the autism spectrum often find it difficult to understand how other people think and feel. This can result in problems in social situations and a very real anxiety in communicating with others, including their partners, particularly about feelings, theirs and those of their partner. This can leave their partner feeling alone, misunderstood, frustrated and helpless. They may feel isolated, start to doubt their own judgement and have difficulty in finding anyone who understands, or even believes, what they are experiencing.
Members have found that meeting with people with similar experiences, helps them understand their own experience and gives them valuable, useful information that they can use to move forward.
The experience of joining the group validates their reality in a way that they may not have experienced previously and gives them confidence in themselves.
Formerly known as Aspie Partners WA, the group has been
a place of understanding and support for many.
